Salisbury-Ocean City: Food and Drink Choices Expand at SBY Airport

Salisbury Regional Airport launches new machine vending services to provide quality food and beverage choices for passengers and visitors to the Terminal.

SALISBURY, MD (Mar. 18, 2024) - Travelers and visitors to the Salisbury Regional Airport have new meal options available to them while waiting for their flights. Last week the Airport expanded the range of foods for purchase from vending machines, beyond the usual chips, candy, and soda. The newest machines feature high-quality entrees, heated to order, and fresh brewed barista style coffee, for those in need a pick-me-up.

"We'd like local merchants to provide dining at the airport. Unfortunately, our location and flight schedule make it a challenge for a deli or restaurant to generate receipts throughout the day. Recent developments in in vending machine technology and food fare make it possible to provide higher quality choices in a consumer environment such as ours," says Airport Director Tony Rudy.

Interactive displays make choosing foods very easy and informative. For items requiring cooking, the machine will page the customer when their order is ready via a downloadable app that can also be used to order ahead when taking another trip. Menu items are set to vary, with the introductory period featuring Asian take-out as well as familiar American appetizers. Passengers and airport employees are enjoying the selection so far, selling-out items in just the first few days.

Travelers are reminded, when choosing foods at the airport, that bottled water, sodas and coffee are not permitted through the TSA checkpoint. Any drink items purchased in the main terminal lobby must be consumed or disposed of before security screening. Morel vending machines, with the improved items, are available in the Boarding Area after security screening.
