Salisbury Regional Airport Hosts FAA Seminar

Pilots from across Delmarva attended an FAA-sponsored safety seminar held on September 8th in Salisbury Regional Airport’s airline terminal building. Salisbury resident Ron Levy, a veteran pilot and flight instructor, and the FAA Safety Team’s Lead Representative for the Eastern Shore, discussed several topics, including new FAA equipment standards which will require most aircraft owners to install advanced position-reporting GPS units by January 1, 2020. The radios, officially called “Advanced Dependent Surveillance–Broadcast” units, will enhance safety and promote more efficient point-to-point navigation.

Bill Penna, manager of the SBY control tower, discussed new FAA procedures which will allow air-traffic controllers to safely integrate drone flights into non-critical airspace.
